Privet! It's me again! This time I will be talking about how I fell in love with mathematics. I am proud to call myself a philomath, or a lover of learning. I have always loved learning, ever since I was a child, but the subject dearest to my heart is mathematics. When I was young, I grew up in a lovely home in St. Petersburg with my family. When I was eleven years old, my family was redecorating our house. However, we found that we had not bought enough wallpaper! But being a smart woman, my mother covered the walls of my nursery with old papers on differential analysis as well as integral analysis. I remember fondly reading the papers as I fell asleep at night. This was only the beginning. As a child, my father's brother would come to visit. He would talk endlessly of squaring circles and asymptotes while teaching me to play chess. Although I did not understand most of what he was rambling about, it all sounded so magical and I was taken by it. I could not get enough of it. When I was old enough, I was taught by a tutor, A. N. Strannolibuski. He taught me many forms of math, including calculus. I was also introduced to nihilism at this time in my life, a subject that I have based my life entirely around. As I grew older, I wanted to learn more. Unfortunately, Russia at that time did not allow women to attend university. Too old for a tutor and unable to go to college, my only choice was to travel abroad to study in different countries. But more on that later. Until next time, do svidaniya!
